Item: This is a great gold velvet sewing box. The box frame is very sturdy and is likely made of wood. It's covered with a gold velvet upholstery fabric on the sides, black leather on the bottom and a beautiful floral tapestry fabric on the top. This was made in Italy in the 1960s and is lined with a matching gold velveteen fabric inside. It is a nice quality piece and is marked Made In Italy on the bottom. Little trinket boxes like this have a thousand uses. It would make a great jewelry box, a good catch all for thimbles, needles and notions, and a nice desk organizer for paper clips and rubber bands. It's in very good condition but the interior has some light red discoloration.
