Item: This is a striped vest pocket sterling silver cigarette box made in Chester, England in 1907. It was made before cigarettes had filters thus the smaller size. This is engraved with a barking dog on the front holding a shield. It has a nice gilded interior and is well hallmarked. These are being repurposed these days as vest pocket wallets but this one is unfortunately not long enough to fit a credit card. Others use these as pill boxes and there are a hundred other uses. This snaps together very securely and is very good condition with a few very light dents and patina consistent with age.
