Item: This is a great antique silver metal (likely nickel) bracelet with a belt buckle theme. It has beautiful Art Nouveau engraving on it with flowy designs, leaves and flowers encircling it.

The Victorians and Edwardians often used the buckle as a symbol of love and fidelity in jewelry. It can be seen in rings, brooches, earrings and of course bracelets like this one from the 19th century through the 1930s. Just as a wedding ring conveys a circle of eternal love the same idea is expressed by the belt while the buckle is symbolic of commitment and faithfulness. As the two sides of the belt come together (or in this case the bracelet) they are joined by the buckle and interlocked in everlasting love.
