This is a great metal (likely nickel) bangle bracelet with a belt buckle theme. It has beautiful engraving with floral designs and cane laticework encircling it. I thought it would be interesting to add scan of the original patent on this which is pictured above.
The Victorians and Edwardians often used the buckle as a symbol of love and fidelity in jewelry. It can be seen in rings, brooches, earrings and of course bracelets like this one made in the 1930s. Just as a wedding ring conveys a circle of eternal love the same idea is expressed by the belt while the buckle is symbolic of commitment and faithfulness. As the two sides of the belt come together (or in this case the bracelet) they are joined by the buckle and interlocked in everlasting love.
